The LAST LECTURE – My take
“The LAST LECTURE ” A computer science professor at carnegie mellon, was asked to give such a lecture in a situation when hs had been recently been diagonised with terminal cancer, A beautiful book to read and get inspired, Very proud to say i am consuming it. Only half way throughcould resist my fingers from typing this post with my experience in the same.
In my college days i had gone through two such last lecture experience.
First one, in my first year of bachelors, Mr. Ramamurthy. John nash ( A Beautiful mind) kind of calm, and quite proffessor. You have to be a really book worm to understand all his speedy explanations. He is the soul reason for my continual interest in maths even in college. A Great human being to get associated with. Once i bunked a series test (Term test for internals) for a basketball game, and explained my inability he was so cool to reply saying that. Internal marks will be based on best of 3, it is up to me show the scores in the coming series test. Though i managed to get one of the high internal marks 17 out of 20 in my standards, i respect his coolness and smart way for reinforcing the rules. I was very proud to be part of his last lecture. When i went and thanked him personally, i observed few tears in his eyes. Even a cool, sincere, famous mathematician has tears in his last lecture.
Second one, in my final year, my project in charge selvi ( Tamil equilent of bacchelor). Padmavathy. Interestingly the only lady to give full 20 internal marks to me. The LAST LECTURE group and my internal some how has a connection. Very softcharacter lady, famous for explaing IC subjects. throughout our project only her calmness helped us to complete the project. Many of my class mates had issues in convincing the lectures/proffesors for ideas. but badmavathy madam let us be ourself.
My big thanks to The LAST LECTURE – prof. Randy pausch and jeffrey zaslow, for taking me to the golden days of my collge life. Yet to complete the book justt started…. HAPPY READING
