Managerial Qualities – Simba’s View

Managers are not Born they are Made, An essay topic given to me as part of my Technical english paper in english. After 8 long years i think about this topic. Who is really a manger ? What are all the factors contributes to the title ? Is it about his earning potential ? Is it about his academics qualification ? Is it about a designation ?

A Junior Software engineer, a Senior Software engineer and their Project Manager are on their way to a meeting. On their way through a park, they come across a wonder lamp. They rub the lamp and a ghost appears. The ghost says, “Normally, one is granted three wishes but as you are three, I will allow one wish each”. So the eager Junior Software engineer shouted, I want the first wish. I want to be in the Bahamas , on a fast boat and have no worries.

“Pfufffff” and he was gone.

Now the Senior Software engineer could not keep quiet and shouted ” I want to be in Florida with beautiful girls, plenty of food and cocktails.”

“Pfufffff” and he was also gone.

The Project Manager calmly said,” I want these two idiots back in the office after lunch at 1.30pm” Moral of the story is:

“Always allow the boss to speak first”

Is it wrong to delegate a work to your junior ? I feel perfect ok Don’t just give and leave be with him, lead him in the front. Sub delegating the work is to increase the effective efficiency not to show your Power. 

Is it wrong to criticize the work ? Feedback on the act not on the actor is the Most important quality of a manger. 

Sir alex Ferguson’s feedback on match day during the half-time helped the team to clinch the victory N-number of time. Why an advice by manger gives a itchy feel in office ? The more u think about it, discuss about it, deeper will be the reaction. Personalizing things, a Bad politics in office.

1. Who leads from the front ” A fore runner”
2. An assertive person “i am ok You are also Ok”
3. Proactive decision maker
4. Understand your own attribute and style
