indian football league predictions – halfway

I-League_logoPopularly known as I-League, Indian football league is on half way now. 14 clubs from different part of India play for one title. Most of the teams have played 8 games already, 5 more games from now on will decide their fate. Just like any other year Indian football league kept its promise with so many surprises. Top 6 teams in the point table are separated only by 4 points, within that 2 teams share equal point as well. This means even a single flop game can pull a club by 2 positions. current leaders Churchill Brothers SC are with 16 points (from 8 games), followed by Dempo Sports Club with 15 points (from 8 games) and Chirag United SC with 15 points (from 8 games) are in No1, 2 and 3rd place. Interestingly Indian football power house kolkata is not in the top, but three teams among the top 6 are from Calcutta (kolkata).

With new fixtures (announced on 24th December) i expect the game leaders will get concluded on round 11. This hold some of the key matches like Mahindra United Vs Mohun Bagan AC, East Bengal Club Vs Churchill Brothers SC, and Chirag United SC Vs JCT.

Oldest club in I-League Mohun Bagan AC, founded in 1889 has great chances of lifting I-League in 2010.  Local  rivals East Bengal and mohun bagan has just 1 point difference. MB is struggling with striker and midfield combination. Three time winners MB is looking to make their title score to 4, but very tough battle with another football power house goa based CB (churchill brothers) and Dempo sports is the huge task to come up with. I-League 2008-09 season champions Churchill Brothers has the bright chance of winning it for the second time. I-League 2007-08 season champions Dempo Sports Club are with a good rhythm but fingers crossed.
