Complementing Competitors resulting conflicts
Internet advertisement has opened many doors for advertisers i will talk about one such opening here. Competition is not just in getting customers it is about branding yourself better than your peers. Web advertising companies like adbrite, pixel buttons, Google, Yahoo, MSN etc manage multiple customers from diversified verticals. Knowingly or un-knowingly this leads to complementing your competitors. Big guns like yahoo shows Google adds in their own and partner channels and Google shows yahoo advertisements.
Interestingly Yahoo and Google forgot a very basic principle about USER’s VIEW. We the customers would like to enroll for a best in class service, A result oriented service. When i see Yahoo’s add in Google than it means “Yahoo feels advertising in Google is also a way to attract customers”. Dear Yahoo Why i should i advertise in your channel when you yourself don’t believe yourself. Its a fact that in SE Google has largest market share of 80%, but peers like Yahoo Inc, MSN should show faith in their idea and tools. Yahoo should try and advertise its product in other advertising media like TV, Radio, pamphlets rather than getting in to the hands of competitors. This is not a bad idea. Google is advertising in FM radios,and TVs. in fact google.co.in was able to establish in india due to its advertisement with the caption “googly” during cricket matches.
After all each dog has its own day, Google will see competition in future. This should be intense only than we the onliners will get a chance to enjoy feature rich new products and tools.
I belive,Encouraging your competitors advertisements in your own media or channel is not a good for business. Traditional advertisements will have a major role to in prmoting online business. If Google can you can also.
