Fire Drill at Tidel Park
Fire drills a method of practicing the evacuation in buildings. In big professionally managed big buildings, care takers organize one pre-informed and one mock real time evacuation drill. Motto behind these events is to familiarize the safety procedure, safe exits to the dwellers. As part of the exercise they use actual fire extinguishers, ambulances and other high elevators to showcase the care they provide to the occupants.
One such event happened on 14/12/2007 at Tidel park chennai One of the major IT park in chennai in which more than 15k employee work for more than 20 companies. The facilities it provides for the occupants are world class managed by CBRE CB Richard Ellis. Entire Tidel is been evacuated from 12 floors each floor is about 1lakh sqr.feet.
Mid way through the exercise the tall elevator is struck and the operator was not able to bring it down for more than 5 hrs. Authorities managed to divert the audience attention by fast and furious ambulance, and by pumping the huge motor driven hydraulic extinguisher.
The voice of a mute spectator is, Imagine the same elevators which is actually own by Fire and Rescue Services Department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu usage in real fire accident, Cant they do a small calibration check?
